Geoinformation Strategy Switzerland

The collaboration between the Strategy Geoinformation Switzerland (SGS) and SOGI is a true win-win. Together, we bring the vision “From geodata to knowledge” into practice and make geolocated information accessible and usable for everyone.

This is not about creating yet another working group, but about actively leveraging and further developing existing connections—a vibrant network that brings together ideas, knowledge, and experience.

Within SOGI, members can directly contribute their expertise, whether through personal contacts, specialist groups, or guest participation in the GKG. This creates a dynamic exchange between strategy and practice, strengthening the geoinformation landscape in Switzerland. Those who get involved not only help shape the strategy but also become part of a network that drives ideas forward, builds connections, and enriches everyday life through geoinformation. This is how real impact is created: collaboratively, connected, and close to practice.

«The geoinformation ecosystem is a collaborative effort involving civil society, the business community, government, academia, and politics. I participate in SOGI because it actively promotes dialogue and thus makes an important contribution to all of us and to our shared society.»

Beat Tschanz, Federal Government Representative on the SOGI Board
