Geostandards and model-based methods (GGMM)
The Geostandards and Model-Based Methods Group is a standing group of SOGI that addresses the following topics:
- Developing the foundations for geostandardization
- Further developing model-based methods in general and INTERLIS in particular
- Monitoring international geostandardization
The GGMM is institutionally integrated into Geostandards.ch and cooperates closely with the eCH Geoinformation Technical Group.
Current topics are first discussed and evaluated by the entire group. If intensive detailed work is required, we form a project team of subject matter experts—possibly including external consultants—and plan a funded project for this purpose. The ideas for the project concept originate within the group; the project proposal is drafted by the project team, which also implements the project once it has been approved and funded.
«The fact that SOGI is responsible for addressing the topics “foundations for standards” and “maintenance of the model-based method” within the new organization GeoStandards.ch motivates me to lead the corresponding group. This ensures that, in addition to the federal and cantonal administrations—which organize and fund GeoStandards.ch—stakeholders from the private sector, utilities, research, educational institutions, and individuals can also contribute ideas and get involved. In this way, the full spectrum of those engaged in geoinformation, as connected through SOGI, is included.»
